shoe-fly...

... don't bother me.

Sitting on the floor last night at youth, my legs were stretched out straight and crossed.  If you look to the left of the Reebok with the strap, you'll find a fly that wasn't quite fast enough for my mongoose-reactions.  By smashing my feet together, I one-upped Miyagi (who obviously needs chopsticks... amateur.).  Marie was in the middle of a theologically deep point... and I was in the middle of celebrating my kill by beating my chest and howling--then inviting all the 9th grade girls to rain down accolades.

So, I hurried home to show my wife... she was so proud.

Psalm 78 Reads My Mail.

When God began killing them,
they finally sought him.
They repented and took God seriously.
Then they remembered that God was their rock,
that God Most High was their redeemer.
But all they gave him was lip service;
they lied to him with their tongues.
Their hearts were not loyal to him.
They did not keep his covenant.
Yet he was merciful and forgave their sins
and did not destroy them all.
Many times he held back his anger
and did not unleash his fury!
For he remembered that they were merely mortal,
gone like a breath of wind that never returns.

Mad Libs: NT/OT Style

In HS on Sunday nights, we've been working on understanding the story that God is telling.  Last week we looked at the condition of our hearts.  We wrote "progressive" stories and did some 90 second quick writes.  The home work was to talk about the 90 sec topic, "If my heart could talk, it would say..." with someone that cared about their heart.  Whoop.  Crazy how I pastor like that.

So today, in part two, we are filling in the blanks.

Fill_in_the_blank
Tonight our crew is reading verses and narrating the story of what they read.  To get the pump primed, we're working on "mad libs".

Check out this link and make some bible verse-mad lib magic!

The 3 Year Proof

Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Here is the proof that what I say is true:

This year you will eat only what grows up by itself,
and next year you will eat what springs up from that.
But in the third year you will plant crops and harvest them;
you will tend vineyards and eat their fruit.
And you who are left in Judah,
who have escaped the ravages of the siege,
will put roots down in your own soil
and will grow up and flourish.
For a remnant of my people will spread out from Jerusalem,
a group of survivors from Mount Zion.
The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven's Armies
will make this happen!
